Session Based VDI's in Windows infra
Hi Everyone , I have been wanting to post something online from very long , so finally here it is. I have gathered this information over the last few months working on this solution called as Customer access and Security (CAS) .
Solution is to connect set of users to VDI solution wherein the available VDI solution is made available for the active connection to the users which consists of customer specific set of application in a Golden Image .
We have a set of RDS infrastructure in a connection broker with Session host and RDS role installed , RDP is the protocol used to take remote access of the machines . Also we have provisioned a SQL database (PaaS) which queries the pool for the available session host and connect the same machine to the user requesting the remote .
We have also used FSLogix profiles to share the persistent storage of the user session and the same has been stored, it also minimizes the login timing and handles the I/O operations smoothly , you can read more about here : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/fslogix/overview
One of the eligibility to use FSLogix is to have RDS Client Access License (CAL) per user licenses for each user.
This kind of solutions primarily requires a VPN connectivity or may be a restriction from the customer to not use their VPN tunneling method to access customer nodes . We are managing this solution and also for auditing purpose we are recording the sessions in the WEC (Web Event collector) hosted in a Linus machine which is connected to our Azure infra for this solution .
I will be posting more about this solution in coming days ....
Thank you all . Lots of love . Ankur
