Upgrading my Acer Aspire R7's SSD

I had upgraded the SSD on one of my other laptops, A Dell G3, which had originally come with a 128GB Nvme SATA SSD. I did not have the adapter cable to connect both the SSDs at the same time. So I used Macrium Reflect to clone the 128GBs onto my HDD, then boot through it (making it freakishly slow), and reclone the segments onto the new SSD.

But this time while working with the Acer Aspire R7, there was a problem. Interestingly, The boot instructions were on the HDD drive and while it was booting from the HDD, the windows installation was actually on the SSD. This caused a heck of confusion as, on using the method stated previously, on cloning and rebooting from the HDD, it was crashing with the error code 0xc00000e!

Hence I did not even have windows to clone the segment onto the new drive. On reading a few posts, I decided to try Clonezilla. It's an open-source drive cloning software that works with a bootable USB. This would have worked but while selecting the destination partition, the new drive was not listed because it did not have the partition table set.

Finally, I created a bootable USB for Ubuntu, which can be used in the trial version from the USB itself. Using the GParted software prebuilt in Ubuntu, I was able to define the partition table and clone the partition back from the HDD to the new SSD.

But this was not the end. The Windows was still crashing with the error code 0xc00000e.

To resolve this I used a Windows restoration drive(Always create one before trying this stuff). First I tried to repair it with the Windows 10 Automatic Repair Tool (Listed as "Startup Repair" under the Troubleshoot option) but it was not able to resolve the issue.

Next, I went to the command prompt and wrote these commands one after another:

bootrec /scanos
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /rebuildbcd

And then rebooted the laptop and was able to resolve the error and save all my data.
