Pause and Reflect
Table of contents
Take this as a reminder to pause and reflect.
There will be days when we feel like we lacked in productivity and other days when we feel like we did not get anything done.
You're not alone.
You may have forgotten to take a break, maybe not getting enough nutrients or activity done in your day, or you’re possibly going through burnout. There could be many factors.
Everyone has different ways of managing this but something that personally helps me get out of this "funk" is journaling.
And no, you don't have to spend an hour writing about every detail of your entire day (unless you enjoy it, of course). For most of us, that could just be another added task on the list. This could be done in a notebook or in your digital notes, up to you. But taking even 5-10 minutes during your break or before you sleep can make a difference.
How?
We have our task lists and our grocery lists, but what about the other heavier thoughts in our minds, that we may not even be aware of, weighing us down? We’re doing this to offload any negative thoughts, conserve our headspace, and help keep us grounded.
#Pause and #reflect.
If you’re having trouble thinking about what to write, I’ll leave you with 3 prompts (you may have heard about this in self-development books, motivational speakers, etc. but this is something that my brother introduced to me when I was going through some dark and stressful times and has stuck with me ever since):
What are 3 things you’re grateful for (today, this week, or this month)?
What are 3 things you can improve on?
Write down 3 positive self-affirmations.
I've been there and sometimes we forget to realize how much we don't credit ourselves enough for the work that we've been putting in leading up to this point.
If you’re reading this and feel like a slump, pause and reflect.
Take that break. Do that digital detox. Remember that there is only one of you.
Rather than beating yourself up, give yourself grace and celebrate your accomplishments - big or small. Be proud of where you are in your journey.
Then get right back into your groove when you're ready.
The next time you feel this "funk", you now have a list of reminders to look back on.
If you have other methods that work for you, I would love to hear about them!
