Why I use Mysterium and maybe you should !

We have all been bombarded with ads from VPN companies, my choice out of them was NordVPN, which I was paying around 10$ per month to use, which is a lot. Eventually I stopped for financial reasons and wanted to set up my own OpenVPN for free and found out why it's even better than these VPN providers because their IP addresses are known and they keep logs, so if someone gets hold of these logs you are not anonymous at all (this case did happen before).

And that's where I stumbled upon an even better idea.

Decentralized VPN, more specifically Mysterium, and since I already had a Rasberry Pi laying around I decided to become a node, what made Mysterium stand out:

  • It's decentralized
  • Doesn't save logs
  • No account needed you just deposit MYST to an address
  • IP addresses aren't known because they are residential
  • It's super cheap (you actually get paid if you are providing a connection)
  • Easy set-up and documentation

Let me share how it has been going for me after 24 hours :

As we are speaking two people are using my network - Which is so crazy, empowering and cool at the same time

It's been 24 hours since I set up my node and started using the VPN as a client, originally I deposited 5 MYST ~ 1.43$ and this is where I am at now -

So I spent 0.08$ for using Mysterium VPN, which is 0.28 MYST.

And according to the application should last me for -

And here is how much I made from running a node -

If you want to set up your own node for fun, Mysterium has really good resources to help set it up, and if you run into trouble just contact me anywhere, or comment on this blog post and I will personally help you to the best of my ability.
