Threat actors are entities that are responsible for an event that has an impact on the safety of another entity.

Threat actors have a wide scope of variety with different intentions.

1. Insider Actors

These involves current or former employees or business associate who has access to sensitive information or privileged accounts within the network of an organization, and who misuses this access. The impact of the threat an insider will pose to system will be more because the he has more knowledge about the system

2. Script Kiddies

These set of people have little or no knowledge about hacking because they make use of pre-written scripts. They are motivated by the hunt so as to make a name to. e.g Yahoo Yahoo boys

3. Nation State

These actors are highly trained personnel. They work with the government (Military control, utilities, financial control). They are funded and backed by a government.

4. Hacktivists

These are hacker that do exploits with a purpose. They performs their attacks just to make a social change in the community or for a political agenda. Their attacks are highly remarkable and very specific such as releasing private documents of a victim to the public.

5. Organized Crime

These are professional criminals. They are external entities whose motive is to only make money. They are very sophisticated and they have access to almost all tools needed to do exploits. Their crime is organized so that it looks like a startup. A group of people are attacking, some are managing the exploits, another person sells the data, another handles customer support
