How do keep the streaks alive.....

This Article is not about how to keep Snapchat streaks but just know about what is the psychology behind that streaks.

what is a snap streak?

Users can gain streaks on Snapchat by exchanging snaps for several consecutive days. They must send and receive at least one snap from the same user within 24 hours otherwise, the streak will be lost, thereby making sure that people use it every day.

Psychology behind that

When a streak has been established, several psychological factors come into play that helps maintain the streak. Users are rewarded with points, i.e., a higher streak score for coming back every day which, in turn, reinforces the behavior. More importantly, users are motivated by their fear of losing the streak. By sending a snap every day, the streak is maintained and the behavior is therefore reinforced.

Research has shown that people tend to prefer avoiding losses to acquiring equivalent gains, a phenomenon known as loss aversion. Even though keeping up the streak has become tiresome, the thought of losing it looms larger than the gains rewarded for maintaining it.

The more we invest, The more likely to be consistent.

As mentioned before, In this space we are not going to discuss how to maintain Snap streaks. We just discussed how you push yourself to become a consistent person using some human psychology strategies.

Commitment and consistency are effective because people have the desire to maintain consistency with their self-concept, values, and behaviors. That is why at the end of the day you should make either an announcement or conversation with your friend's circle or on social media. Just make a daily tweet regarding what you have done related to your career. This habit psychologically pushes you to do some good pieces of stuff in the upcoming days.

In other words: New Year’s Resolutions only really work if you tell someone about them. It’s a form of accountability. The same goes for if you get sponsorship for running a marathon or similar. Once the public commitment has been made, you feel that you will be held accountable for your actions and feel compelled to complete the commitment. Referring back to the attractiveness of consistency, people don’t want to look flakey, therefore naturally want to be seen as someone who commits and is consistent. It feels bad to back down or drop out.

That is why you should state a goal publicly if you want to make a change in your life.

Evaluate Yourself

evaluation-time (1).jpg

A self-evaluation can change the trajectory of your career. During a self-evaluation be self-centered. Use the 'I' statement to ensure you're not writing someone's performance review. A self-evaluation is more focused on setbacks than future progress.

Define your daily action plan list. Don’t exaggerate the items in the list just be simple to start up a day. Example: If you are a developer or love to code then take a pledge to solve one coding problem every day. Okay, I’m ready with my action plan list what’s next?

The next step is to create your community circle on social media like Twitter, and Linkedin. After you complete any one of your daily action plan items just share what you have done how was your learning experience and what you have learned. Example: If you solved a coding problem then share the coding answer with your community or read any fascinating articles and just share it. This habit will help you to be a consistent person and that community pushes you to do these things continuously.

In the final step, you give a mark to yourself about how the day went. This step is totally up to you, you are going to evaluate yourself by completing your action plan. Create a monthly evaluation sheet, that sheet only have 30 boxes, each box representing each day of the month. We have 3 colors: Red - Not Good, Pink - Not Bad, Blue - Sound Good. Using these colors to mark that box to answer the question 'How was the day gone? 'is simple. End of the first month most of the boxes become red boxes. After a couple of months, your mind naturally says, hey man just do any one thing useful and avoid using that color(red). This is how you push yourself to do something good.

Conclusion

Success isn’t always about greatness. It's about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. Greatness will come. - Dwayne Johnson

I would like to end up with this article as one little story.

In this story, we have two persons, one is a master and another one is a student. One day master gave some tasks to the student. After one-day student returned to his master's and said that too difficult and hard to identify the result, and he can’t complete it.

Master: Imagine you don’t know how to swim. unfortunately, you slip into the river. How long did you try to survive? If you give up with just one or two attempts.

Student: No, I will try until I’m getting unconscious.

Master: Do you try this level of effort to solve that problem I gave?

Student: No master.

Master: Just go and try now.

Whatever it is, Give your 100%.
