Augmented Reality is about to take the web by storm. From AR stickers to AR videos, the possibilities are endless. In this article, you’ll learn what augmented reality is, why it’s becoming so popular, and how you can use it on your website.

What is Augmented Reality?

AR can be called many things. You can call it “augmented reality,” “mixed reality,” “virtual reality,” “transparent reality,” or “true reality.” One thing is for sure: it’s all about adding digital content to the physical world. Virtual objects can be superimposed on the real world in several ways: through a screen, through a camera, or through sensors. The image can be created using computer graphics or through special software that maps the real world. In general, AR aims to create a real-world experience where digital information is overlaid with the physical environment.

AR and Virtual Reality Overview

Allow me to compare the two terms you’re probably already familiar with. Virtual Reality (VR) is a bit more complicated as it’s not only about creating a digital world but immersing the user into that virtual world. Immersing the user means that they feel like they’re experiencing the VR world. With VR, this doesn’t only mean visuals — it can also mean audio and even smells. The two main ways to create VR are: - In the headset: You can place the headset over the eyes and have a whole new experience. This is the most common way to experience VR. - Outside the headset: You can use special equipment that can project images on a screen and/or send sounds through headphones or speakers. You can also create VR experiences without headsets, too — this is called Expanded Reality (ER).

How to use Augmented Reality in Web Development

Now that you know what AR is, let’s talk about how to use AR in web development. AR is very different from static websites that only have a few types of content. Instead, AR is about using a special type of content that can be placed on your website. This can be anything from Augmented Reality Stickers to AR videos to AR eCommerce. The best thing about AR is that it is sticky. It sticks to one device (a smartphone) and then it can be shared with other people. You can make a logo that sticks to a student’s desk, or you can make an Augmented Reality Scavenger Hunt at a school. AR is super popular right now because it can be used for so many different things. You can transform your logo, create a scavenger hunt, bring new products to life, and more. AR tools are becoming more and more accessible, and that means that the possibilities are expanding.

Aframe js

Aframe is a JavaScript library that helps you create Augmented Reality experiences. It provides a set of ready-to-use components to help you create your AR experiences. This includes components like AR markers, AR base maps, AR image layers, and more. Aframe also provides a JavaScript library that helps you create your AR experiences. It provides things like a real-world 3D engine, camera streaming, and more.

The three most common types of Augmented Reality apps

AR is often used for navigation and navigation apps are one of the most common types of AR apps. Let’s say you’re visiting a website about running races. While you’re browsing, you can see the runner’s path overlaid onto the screen. Another common type of AR app is for sharing and collaboration. Imagine you’re creating a building design, and you want to show others what you’re doing. Simply turn on the AR feature to view your design on a building in the real world. You can also use AR to create virtual items that look and feel like the real world. For example, you can create a 3D chess piece that you can play against AI. Or, you can create AR objects that let users view photos and videos in 3D.

Conclusion

Augmented Reality is all the rage these days. This is partly because it’s so easy to get started, but also because it has so many uses. From virtual stickers to virtual video, AR has your back. All you need to do is choose the type of AR you want to use, and then choose the component that best suits your needs. From there, you can have a whole new experience on your website.
