Confluent acquires Immerok to develop Apache Flink offering
Confluent a leading data streaming specialist company has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Immerok – a leading Apache Flink cloud provider for building powerful cloud-native Apache Flink offerings.
As per LinkedIn, Confluent was founded in the year 2014 with its headquarters in Mountain View, California. Currently, the size of the company is 1,001-5,000 employees and its hold specialties in Apache Kafka, Open Source, Stream Processing, Streaming Data, Event Streaming Platform, and Event-Driven Architecture
The Confluent Platform is a full-fledged data streaming platform that allows access, storage, and real-time management of data. It was developed by the original creators of Apache Kafka®, so, it expands the Kafka offerings and removes the burden of Kafka management or monitoring.
Immerok is a leading contributor to Apache Flink® and is building a fully managed Apache Flink cloud service for real-time streaming.
According to Jay Kreps, Co-founder & CEO of Confluent, their mission is to set data in motion—that is, to make streaming data the new default and make the data streaming platform a centerpiece of modern data architectures. They are looking to launch the first version of their Flink offering in Confluent Cloud later this year, starting with SQL support and extending over time to the full platform.
