Basic Information of HTTP and HTTPS
Table of contents
The full form of HTTP is Hypertext Transfer Protocol. It consists of a set of rules and standards that web browsers and servers can use to communicate. By using this protocol, we can transfer data from the server to the client. Most information that is sent over the Internet, including website content and API calls, is transmitted via the HTTP protocol. There are two main kinds of HTTP messages: requests and responses.
But it is not secure, so here comes the concept of HTTPS. HTTP with the features of encryption and verification is also referred to as HTTPS and it is more secure than HTTP. In the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, HTTP protocol works at the application layer while HTTPS protocol works at the transport layer.
