Embracing change: My journey through the highs and lows of the last year

Change is inevitable and it often comes with its own set of challenges and opportunities. The past year has been no different, with a lot of change happening both globally and in my personal life. As I reflect on the journey of the last 12 months, I’m grateful for all the lessons I’ve learned and the growth I’ve experienced.

The past year brought about many unexpected twists and turns, both good and bad. I faced new challenges and took on new responsibilities. I experienced both success and failure. But through it all, I learned the importance of embracing change and adapting to new situations.

January: I became the part of Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors Community. This is the place from where I started connecting people globally. My journey of open source also started from here.

February: I started work on my coding skills to grab a good opportunity to work. Searched for various DSA resources and found some amazing channels that gave in-depth explanations of the concepts. One of them is Kunal Kushwaha's channel. I decided that by the end of September, I should have a good offer.

March: I started practicing questions from geeksforgeeks then slowly switched to leetcode. Initially, I faced difficulty in solving leetcode questions. As slow and steady wins the race :)

so, I continued my practice on leetcode.

April: Parallely I Participated in Social Impact League Project. Where I got the opportunity to collaborate with people across different countries. We worked on content development in Microsoft learn.

May: Brushed up my basics of C++, python, OS, DBMS and CN from geeksforgeeks. Revised all basics and upskilled with Kunal's and other YouTube resources.

June: Applied for various internship opportunities. And got a remote internship opportunity for two months (July-August).

July: Here client's requirement was HR Management System with all the features such as an automated payroll system, employee record management etc. Created a website using React and for backend we used MongoDB. I worked as a front-end developer.

August: Parallely I applied for other opportunities. And got interviewed for one of the amazing startups in tech ie Dotpe. I had 2 rounds of interviews. Also, we completed our project on HR Management System

September: Started my new journey here at Dotpe. Started work as a front-end developer. Initially, I faced a bit of difficulty as the tech framework was a bit different. ie Sencha Touch ( Extjs framework ). I was suddenly thrown into a new environment with new people, new processes, and new expectations. But, I was determined to succeed and I embraced the change.

October: Being connected to my Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors Community. I gained a lot of exposure to Microsoft Technologies and hosted various events.

November: I attended GitHub Universe Watch Party live stream from San Francisco and got to know a lot about open source. One of the amazing things I came to know about was codespaces.

December: I hosted an online event on codespaces in my college. I showed the demo how codespaces works and the folks seemed quite interested after knowing the perks that codespaces can provide.

I continued my internship journey at Dotpe and got an opportunity to work as a Backend Developer. This means working as a full-stack developer :)

I started exploring more about open source and contributed to an open-source project.

In conclusion, the past year has been a journey filled with change, growth, and self-discovery. It has been a reminder of the importance of embracing change, no matter how difficult it may seem. I’m grateful for the lessons I’ve learned and for the growth I’ve experienced.

I'm looking forward to contributing more to open source, to continue embracing change and making the most of every opportunity that comes my way.
