THE POWER OF TESTNET in 2 minutes
Table of contents
Testnet also known as TEST-NETWORK is an alternative to Blockchain, Testnet coins or tokens are different from actual coins on the blockchain, So you can refer to it as dummy blockchains with dummy tokens or coins, and it is mainly used by developers for testing and experimentation purposes without having to use the real blockchain or worrying about domain chain (domain net).
If you were wondering. No, you can’t transfer them into your wallets or use them as real coins or tokens, and they do not have any real value.
If you visit https://etherscan.io/ and click the Ethereum icon you will see the main net (blue) but you can choose about 5 different testnets (red) for the Ethereum blockchain.
Facts about Testnet;
By setting up your blockchain node, you can also mine your own testnet coins.
It's easy to solve hash puzzles or blocks because there are fewer miners in a testnet blockchain. Imagine having only 12 GB of network services in 6 years of BTC testing.
It is not possible to send from the test network to the main network or vice versa.
Helps developers find bugs in their projects before using the real blockchain
How can test change our lives?
Test net allows us to earn free tokens and interact with Defi without using actual coins, this is where I need to talk about earning those test net tokens. You might be curious, like, how are they generated? Do I have to change my blockchain tokens to testnet tokens? Well, no, because there are applications and websites called faucets, and they give rewards of testnet coins in exchange for doing minor tasks. Examples include:
Testnet can change everything because developers and projects reward individuals who participate in the testnet phase of the project with airdrops, We have seen Airdrops like Aptos which skyrocketed, and where people made $10,000 to $50,000 on the airdrop. An example of testnest with airdrops coming soon is the Aptos Yield airdrop, for more check https://technext.ng/2022/10/24/3-upcoming-project-airdrop-you-make-money/
Advice
My advice to you is not to miss out on the value the testnet gives, both as a developer and also as an airdrop hunter.
