What is Global Hack Week?

Each month, Global Hack Week is hosted by MLH where we can learn new skills, build our portfolio, attend fun sessions and connect with other hackers in the MLH community.

We spend a week hacking with the MLH community at GHW AI/ML Week! This week will give us the chance to explore Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment.

Who organizes Global Hack Week?

Global Hack Week is organized by Major League Hacking (MLH), to empower hackers worldwide by providing them with the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed.

Who can attend Global Hack Week?

All are welcome to attend and participate in Global Hack Week no matter your experience level and student status. Hundreds of hackers who have never coded before will attend GHW. This event is geared toward folks learning to code as well as experts! It's free and easy to get started!

Global Hack Week is a 100% free event for anyone, anywhere! It's easy to register and participate, so join and put your skills to the test. It’s free for anyone, anywhere!!

Guilds

Guilds are a fantastic way to stay connected, complete challenges together, and enjoy mini-events all while making new friends and connections. These are great ways to find a small community within the GHW and MLH community. I am a part of the 'Cats In Tech' guild by Praveen Kumar Purushothaman. It is because of him only that I got to know about MLH events. He helped me with how to complete challenges and earn points.

Challenges

We are given different types of challenges to work on during Global Hack Week. Challenges range from social challenges urging us to connect with other members of the community, technical challenges that will expand our coding skills, and design challenges to refine our skills as a creator and artists.

Points

At the end of each day, we receive an email regarding the points earned by completing our challenges throughout GHW. Challenges aren’t the only way to earn points. We can also receive a point each time we check in for a live session, so the more we attend, the more points we will rack up. They can be as simple as posting on our social media or as advanced as building a project and submitting it on Devpost.

Swags

This is one of the exciting parts of GHW events. Everyone who registers for Global Hack Week and provides their address will get an MLH postcard and sticker sheet! Bonus swag is also awarded throughout the event.

My experience at GHW(AI/ML) has been amazing so far. In this week-long event, I try to attend as many live regular sessions as possible where I learn and discover something new every day. I enjoy attending these events and the best part which I love about these events are the 'Challenges'. Even though I am packed with my college schedules and studies but I love to attend these events, learn new skills and enhance my knowledge. By the 5th day, I have earned 32 points and I am in the top 1% of all hackers who participated in this event.
