Just like #100DaysOfCode, you are expected to code & learn a minimum of an hour every day for the next 150 days. Share your progress every day with the #150DaysOfALC4 hashtag either on Twitter or Facebook.

First! you should have a set goal

If you want to succeed, you definitely need to set goals. Without them, you lack focus and direction. The goal is to be part of 1000 to gain google certification. It is not bad to have a different goal but it is bad not to have one. If you don’t have set goals in the first place, how would you find out what you truly want?

Consistency

Even if it’s only an hour per day, if you do this for seven days a week you would have studied for 7 hours in a week. That would be 150 hours before Learning phase 2. “Slow and steady wins the race” and that is very true.

Say No to Imposter Syndrome

It’s not a surprise that so many aspiring developers struggle with impostor syndrome because we easily get overwhelmed by the number of tools and technologies that we need to know to get there. Most of the senior developers you are looking up to often deal with Impostor syndrome too, we can’t even imagine how long it took them before they started feeling more confident with their skills. Most of them were experts in one language before they jumped to another and also they don’t know every single thing. So don’t get discouraged by Impostor syndrome. It happens, but you have to deal with it with patience, belief and the willingness to always try irrespective of the outcome.

Learning peers

The ALC team will place each learner in a slack workspace with learning peers and a mentor for the coming weeks. Part of what makes you a good developer is your ability to collaborate, so here is an opportunity to collaborate with your peers. Mentors will be in hand to help you with answers to your questions and also serve as your guide.

Local Meetups

They will be meetups in regions with Andela offices. Regions that do not have Andela offices but want a meeting, should reach out to the ALC team and something will be done about that.

  • Meet up 1 on 29th Jun 2019

  • Meet up 2 on 20th Jul 2019

  • Meet up 3 on 3rd Aug 2019

Daily progress with the #150daysofalc4 hashtag

#150DaysOfALC4 is a social media campaign launched by the ALC team aimed at promoting interaction on social media.

What ALC wants to accomplish?

Through this campaign, they hope to encourage learners to document their entire software engineering journey using the hashtag. In so doing;

  • They’ll greatly increase the brand visibility of ALC, Andela and their partners Google and Pluralsight.

  • They greatly increase content generated and created around ALC 4.0 by encouraging content to come from learners as opposed to Andela curating all content. Thinking of scalability.

  • They increase the creation and sharing of content during the entire duration of ALC 4.0.

  • They can be able to track the hashtag at the end of the entire learning process to gauge what impact they have had on social media and what the monetary value for that is.

  • They’ll greatly increase the number of learners attending meetups from the previous ALC program as they will be looking forward to seeing how they’re doing as well as receiving incentive information on merchandise.
