Chronicles of a Product Manager @Sidehustle Bootcamp Week Four and Final!! 💃💃💃
Kind of like last week's task, this week we worked with the Dev team to create a Blog, as is our duty as product managers, we had to oversee the product development process . Our Blog name "Chapters"
We adopted Agile methodology which includes daily standups, sprint planning, sprint review, and sprint retrospective.
DAILY STANDUPS
Our daily standups were held by 8:30 PM, considering that teammates had other affairs to run. We took notes of what both frontend and backend teams were working on and their blockers.
SPRINT PLANNING
During sprint planning, we discussed sprint goals and explained how the features worked. We discussed user stories and the acceptance criteria for each feature. The JIRA board was also used to monitor our team's progress and we had the planning done on the board.
SPRINT REVIEW
As a team, we went through a sprint review of what we planned for the first sprint.
• Was there a task removed from the sprint? No task was removed from the board.
• Did we finish all tasks for this sprint? All tasks were not completed by the devs.
• What was the reason a task was not accomplished? All resources were not available at the time of documentation.
SPRINT RETROSPECTIVE
• What did we do well during this sprint?
Our Blog could run the basic features.
Users are able to register on the Blog
Users are able to Login , write a blog , make and edit a post, Delete post and Log out successfully.
Both the frontend and backend team were readily available to carry out their tasks in the short time they had
• How do we improve in our next sprint?
Endeavor to join daily standups
Carry out tasks assigned to each of us on time
Communicate with team members
Being our second time overseeing a product development, We had learnt a lot from the first experience which was applied to this week's task for a seamless process.
LESSONS
• We learned that poor communication can have an effect on product delivery.
• It is important as a team to always look out for each other and readily assist
• Having all hands on deck made the work easier and faster.
CHALLENGES
• Not Enough time to implement desired features for the Blog
• Having all members of the team present for our daily standups.
Overall, our experience this week was much better than last week as we were able to establish an understanding with the Dev team and everyone did their best to be available to ensure we did better .
Bootcamp @Sidehustle has been a very enlightening and rewarding experience. Looking forward to many amazing opportunities to come. Stay tuned🤵
