Analyzing HR Data to improve Employee Retention and Performance.

So its the final week of SideHustle bootcamp 7.0 and things are ever getting heated up and more fascinating. This week, our task is to analyze data for the HR department to help improve employee retention and performance. The dataset used can be found here.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Background: As a human resource (HR) professional, you're tasked with managing a company's most valuable asset: its employees. One of the biggest challenges facing HR departments today is how to retain and develop top talent. By analyzing HR data, you can gain insights into factors that affect employee retention and performance, and identify areas for improvement. Your objective is to explore the salary, demographics, hires and terminations and any other areas you deem fit.
OBJECTIVES
As stated in the problem statement, the objective is to analyze the data so as to give insight as to what can be done to improve employee retention and performance.
Data Importation & Cleaning
The original data was in MS Excel format as can be found here. Cleaning was done using PowerQuery. PowerBI automatically created a one-to-many relationship and some extrapolations were made to derive some parameters.
Data Analysis and Visualization
The dataset provided for this analysis contained a very vast amount of information. All of the information provided by the dataset is very useful but due to some time constraints, only a handful of analysis was carried out by the team.
Some of the analyses done include the following:
the total number of employees, their spread (by gender), their age groupings and marital status
employee performance rates, the total number of attritions, retrenchment and those due for promotions
the ways employees were employed and the ways some of them parted ways with the company
analysis of job satisfaction
RECOMMENDATIONS
Our findings led us to the following conclusions(these conclusions are just to mention a few):
retrenchments seem imminent to allow for the younger generations to bring in input (in the form of vibrant energy) to the workforce. It would also be a wise investment for the company
Salary hikes should be considered as soon as possible for employees with high-performance rates - especially for those earning below the average salary (more money in most cases means more motivation)
Promotions are also imminent considering employee performance rates
Another very important observation/recommendation is for employees who live far from offices. It may be a welcome idea for such employees to be allowed to work from home and maybe come physically to the office in absolutely necessary circumstances.
