My Experience with MLH Hackathon

Are you interested in participating in hackathons but don't know where to start? Look no further than MLH (Major League Hacking) hackathons! As someone who has participated in several MLH hackathons, I can attest to their positive impact on my skills and career. What is MLH?

MLH is the official student hackathon league, hosting over 200 hackathons yearly. Their mission is to empower hackers and allow them to learn and build. MLH hackathons are free, and anyone can participate, regardless of their skill level or background.

My First MLH Hackathon

My first MLH hackathon was a nerve-wracking experience. I didn't know what to expect and was worried that I wouldn't be able to keep up with the other participants. The Hackathon that I participated in was Local Hack Day: Build 2022. This was all in all Online Hackathon, Hence I can participate from home only.

Most of the workshops were beautifully divided and It was held on the Twitch platform at https://www.twitch.tv/mlh. Initially, they had most of the workshops during the nighttime for IST, but the benefit of that we can also attend the workshop in the daytime as well by watching the recordings.

Learning Opportunities

One of the best things about MLH hackathons is the opportunity to learn new skills. During the hackathon, several workshops and talks covered topics like web development, machine learning, and UI/UX design. I attended as many workshops as I could, and I learned a lot about new technologies and tools.

Networking

Another benefit of MLH hackathons is the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals. I met several people who shared my passion for technology and innovation. We exchanged ideas and contact information, and I made some valuable connections that have helped me in my career.

They also have a dedicated Discord channel where we can connect with like-minded people and share thoughts and experiences.

Career Opportunities

Participating in MLH hackathons can also be beneficial for your career. Many companies sponsor hackathons and attend as mentors or judges. This allows participants to showcase their skills and potentially land a job or internship. They also have an MLH Fellowship program where you can get an internship and learn so much from people from big tech companies as well.

MLH Swags

Also, we all know that the most interesting and favorite part of any hackathon is the swags, Hence in this also we receive amazing swags like Unique stickers, T-shirts, etc.

In conclusion, participating in MLH hackathons has been a positive experience for me. I have learned new skills, made valuable connections, and had fun while doing it. I would highly recommend participating in an MLH hackathon if you have the opportunity. It's a great way to push yourself out of your comfort zone and learn something new.
