My Farewell Speech

Hello everyone out there, this is Debojyoti. This is my first blog evveeerrrr... I have never attempted to write any kind of blog before. Anyways, for the starter, I thought it would be nice to pen down the speech which I would have delivered on the spot (I mean at the farewell party). It's not like, they never called me to deliver my speech, they called me, yes, but I only said 1 or 2 lines and skipped the opportunity. My bad, I know, but what's gone is gone. The time has passed and now there's no point in regretting. However, what I can do now is, to write the entire speech here... It's not just a speech, It's my entire experience of the last 3 years. So let's start, shall we.....

The speech :

"Hello everyone, I don't think I need to introduce myself to you. I guess all of you know me already. Now, first of all, I would like to greet our beloved HOD ma'am, Abhijit sir, Wahid sir and of course Bijan da. And also, I would like to thank my juniors from both 2nd sem and 4th sem, for organizing such a beautiful event for us. Thank you very much for that. Without any further delay, let's dive into the main part of my speech. I am warning you, it is going to be a long one....

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Debojyoti Chakraborty. Who lived in Udharbond and who had just finished his HS from RGJC, Silchar. Since he got the highest mark in Computer Science in HS final exam and also, Cs was his favorite subject. So naturally, he decided to go with Cs for further studies. He was planning to do BCA, he just discovered a very good private university in Bangalore named Christ University. He wanted to go and study there. Initially, he wasn't even thinking of GC College. He had other big ideas to implement. But there were some logical errors in his ideas. For example, it was the Corona period, and it was impractical at that time to even think of going out somewhere. Also, it wasn't financially friendly, you know what I mean. So naturally, his big ideas were never implemented. A point to note is that there was Assam University also, from where he could do BCA. But he had no intention of taking admission there. So there was only one decent option left. And that was, to take admission in GC College. So he did that. There was no BCA course available there. So he opted for BSc Cs (Hons.). Anyways, On his first day at college, he encountered many friendly faces, a few very friendly faces and a lot of strangers. Of course, it was natural to encounter strangers, but those friendly faces were reassuring. Anyways, It was his 1st year, and he was flying in the sky. The reason was, he had a computer background and the things they were teaching in the college were only basics, which he had already covered in HS. It was for this reason, he started wandering here and there.. If you know what I mean. One quick tip from me, never do this. Students always tend to get attracted to these sorts of things in the early stages, which greatly reduces the amount of knowledge they could acquire in total. Stay away from those tendencies. It's for your own good. Anyways, back to the story. Even though he was flying, it never affected his studies. Although, he could do better. But he wasn't doing bad either.

Time passed quickly, friendly faces became very friendly, strangers became friendly, and what about those who were already very friendly? Their status remained the same. The changes in the relationship status were effortless. It just happened. 1st year passed quickly, by the end of it. Our protagonist realized that there was some competition going on here. But he was never bothered by that. Because, to him, competition wasn't the priority. The priority was to get a good cgpa by the end of his graduation. Which could make his way a lot smoother into other good institutions for further studies. That was his overall intention. Anyways, the entire 2nd year was pretty dormant. Nothing much interesting. And the 3rd year too would have passed like that, but God had different plans for it.

So you know that in his batch, there are some creative, hard-working, influential personalities. One of them proposed the idea of giving farewell to their seniors. The seniors, whom they never met in 3 years. Anyways it was their responsibility to give them farewell and they did exactly the same. Bon Voyage 2K22 was the result of that. Then it was the time for NeoFest 2K22, greeting our beloved juniors. And then it was time for Picnic2K23*. A series of successful events.. All possible because of their cooperation and hard work. And also not to forget. The tremendous support from our teachers.*

Now after all these.. when it seemed like the adventure is over. Just at that moment, 2 close friends of our protagonist approached him and proposed.. no no not proposed, said that they are going to open a club for guiding their juniors and they want him to be a part of it. And what did our protagonist say? He said, "Okay let's do it". Just like that they opened a club called GCSC with tremendous support from Abhijit sir, gathered a team of enthusiastic students and organized various events where alumni as well as various experienced working personnel shared their valuable experiences and gave them valuable advice. And Soon enough, it is going to be recognized as an official club of the Computer Science department, GC College, Silchar.

A lot of memories are encapsulated in these 3 years. What to say and what not to say? Our protagonist learned so many things like, okay he is good at painting but he never tried making posters, creating logos etc, which he had to do as he was suddenly the graphic design head of the club. Sometimes he had to do things like singing at an event, which he gave up many years back. Somehow, there was this one person, who was the reason behind almost everything. And our protagonist here, who is surely not great at expressing his feelings, wants that person to know that he is really grateful from the core of his heart for everything that person had done for him. For being there whenever he needed. Although our protagonist contains a very bad habit of completely shutting himself out from time to time, but that person never left. He understood and he stayed. Thank you very much for that. And to all those dear friends who played their parts really well in his life so far. Thank you so much for being there for him. He did nothing for you, but you did a lot for him. Believe me, That's the best he can say. He has feelings that are difficult to express in words. Maybe someday in the near future, he will get the chance of expressing them through his actions.

That's the story so far of our protagonist. I hope all of you got an idea about that person by now. If not, then don't stress on it. Just know that it's Debojyoti from batch 2k20-2k23."
