This quote, from Viktor Frankl's book Man's Search for Meaning, is a reminder that we cannot force success or happiness to happen. We can only create the conditions in our lives that make them possible.

When we focus on pursuing success or happiness, we often become stressed and anxious. We start to feel like we're not good enough or that we're not doing enough. This can lead to burnout and even depression.

But when we focus on creating the conditions for success and happiness, we start to feel more in control of our lives. We feel like we're making progress, even if it's slow progress. And this sense of progress can lead to a greater sense of well-being.

So what are the conditions that make success and happiness possible? Here are a few ideas:

  • A sense of purpose: When we have a sense of purpose in our lives, we feel like we're making a difference. This can give us a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment.

  • Meaningful relationships: Strong relationships with family, friends, and loved ones can provide us with love, support, and a sense of belonging.

  • Good health: When we're physically and mentally healthy, we have more energy and vitality. This can make it easier to pursue our goals and enjoy life.

  • Gratitude: Taking the time to appreciate the good things in our lives can help us to focus on the positive and to feel more content.

These are just a few of the conditions that can make success and happiness possible. Of course, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. What matters most is finding what works for you.

So if you're feeling stressed or anxious about your pursuit of success or happiness, take a step back and ask yourself what you can do to create the conditions that make them possible. Once you start to focus on the things that you can control, you'll be surprised at how much closer you get to your goals.
