Second Edition Of My Experience At TIIDELab
Table of contents
I'm excited to share my experience as an aspiring software engineer at TIIDELab. I've been here for two months, and it's been an amazing journey. I've learned so much, met some incredible people, and worked on some cool projects. If you missed my first edition kindly catch up here. Before I dive into my experience let me express what stood out for me so far.
"What Stood Out For Me"
It'd have been a roller coaster and an overwhelming experience so far, 'TEAM WORK' stood out for me working as a team is a really big deal and it's an important aspect of acquiring more knowledge from colleagues. Another thing that stood out for me is 'BRAINSTORMING' what is more knowledge without brainstorming, I learned to brainstorm what I acquire effectively which made me believe I know what I am doing and I am on the right track. TIIDELab shaped me to be who I am today, Truth be told I was a "Rotten Egg" It was just two months in here and my soft skills and technical skills have improved a lot. Kudos to TIIDELab for a job well done.
Now let's dive into the main business, Don't get tired of me at this point grab your popcorn and read. We started with almighty JavaScript and it's breathtaking.
JavaScript
This month was all about JavaScript – the substantial programming language for software developers. I was so scared to start learning because in my head javascript is hard That was the hashtag in my head, but to my best knowledge, Mr Kenny is the real MVP. He breaks down JavaScript concepts with such dedication that even a complete beginner or a layman will have a glimpse of an idea. I started to see the magic behind coding. We offset everything from the history of JavaScript to the essentials like variables, control statements, functions and DOM then Array. Mr Kenny’s pre-recorded classes with real code examples were top-notch. Where is TIIdelab Without a task, you will learn, relearn, do a series of assignments and practice. This led to the coding challenge in javascript, One thing about Mr Kenny is that you will do assignments, and you will answer questions during presentations which helped me prepare ahead because I don't want to feel embarrassed whenever he asks questions I don't know.
Coding Challenges
We weren’t just listening to lectures; As I said earlier what stood out for me was brainstorming is important and putting them into practice we put our knowledge to the test. Our first challenge was building a Bank USSD Payment System using If-Else and later Switch-case statements. Trust me, nothing solidifies your understanding like tackling a real coding problem.

Team Project: MEDEASE
I’m proud to be part of Team Innovation Squad, and we have an exhilarating project Medication App that helps users to set reminders for their pills, A Web Application. We started by framing the problem, working through the PDCA, and Deming cycle, and creating SRS and FRD detailed system descriptions. You can't escape presentations in TIIDELab it does help a lot in many ways. There are always sprint presentations on the project every two weeks for an update on the progress of the projects and corrections to perfect our standards. Mind you it's not just presentations there is always internal defense then the main defense is always been managed by the Council of Elders, We successfully defended our work to the Council of Elders.
Soft Skills
However, TIIDELab isn’t just about coding; it’s a comprehensive learning experience. We had fantastic mentorships unveiled this month, pairing us with seasoned developers. Soft skills were on the menu too, thanks to Mr. Aderoju Shamsudeen. From decision-making strategies, decision biases, and decision-making traps to role-playing, trust me Mr. Shams disseminates the knowledge we fellows acquired, from various examples to real-life applications. Who would have thought I could act so well, thanks to TIIDELab for always making us discover new talent we didn’t know we had.
Let's roll to physical meet-ups ...
TIIDELab is everything to be very honest and I am proud to be a fellow, Fridays are always fun, soft skills lectures, Head of House games, breakfast, lunch and co. I almost hit the Head of House golden chair but unfortunately, I didn't win but I still have hope you know like the University of Ilorin said "It's not bye-bye but see you again" It's a game and I will keep playing till I win. Here are some pictures of last week's meet-up and guess what? My team won with 76% I know that is a wow! and I was excited too.
This was me in action...
This was me representing my team to present on javascript concepts like closure, optional arguments, rest parameters, and recursion. It was a nice experience I felt fulfilled sharing my knowledge with my colleagues.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, the eight weeks spent in the TIIDELab Fellowship Program have been transformative and rewarding. From the initial skepticism to witnessing the way we are trained to buckle up, this experience pushed me to grow both personally and professionally. I am grateful for the new concepts I learned, the activities I partook in, the support of my peers, and the guidance of my instructors. i keep dwelling on what stood out for me, check what you are doing and state out what stood out for you.
await my 3.0 article, till then use this one to calm your nerves and be inspired....
