Genesis - The Initial Attempt
Who's Mr. A?
Hello everyone, my name is Mr. A (real name withheld) and I am an engineering student currently interning at a research institute in Bubble Land.
Why the article?
In this article, I want to share my journey on how I began writing computer programs and the various domains of computer science and software engineering that I had the opportunity to explore before discovering my passion for Data Science. While I was still working on the prerequisites required to pursue a career in Data Science at the time of writing, I believe that my experiences can serve as a guide and motivation for anyone looking to pursue a career in this field.
How it all started!
At eighteen, a few months after finishing secondary school, I began writing simple computer programs. These programs included ones that displayed information on the computer console and ones that performed basic mathematical operations. I have always had this affinity for computer systems and their internal operations. These were the primary motivators that fueled my passion for computer programming.
First Language!
The first programming language I had the opportunity to explore was Java Programming Language. At the time, I had limited access to a functional computer system as there was none within my reach. The one I managed to get my hands on belonged to my elder brother, an AMD GPU-based HP G-42 laptop. While browsing through Windows Explorer, I stumbled upon a folder named Java Programming Tutorial. Upon opening it, I discovered that it was a Java Programming Tutorial created by a YouTuber named Bucky.
The Sudden Tide!
I watched some of the videos but couldn't understand them, so I decided to research the topic "programming" online. Suddenly, I had a breakthrough moment and finally grasped the true meaning. Eureka! I struggled to keep up with the course because computer programming was completely unfamiliar to me at the time. Additionally, I didn't have anyone to guide me or act as a mentor to help me sail through the waters of confusion. I had to quit because I was finding it difficult to grasp some of the basic programming concepts.
The Return!
A year after initially learning computer programming, I felt the need to revisit it and improve my skills. Despite feeling smarter than before, I had to unlearn and relearn all that I knew about computer programming. So, I did thorough research on the basic computer programming language a beginner should know, and I started learning like a beginner again.
