Choosing an Issue
Now that you're set-up, it's time to choose an issue to work on. Here's how:
Labels: In our repo, you'll find labels like "Good-first-issue" or "Hacktoberfest." These labels help you identify issues suitable for your skill level and those eligible for Hacktoberfest.
Detailed Descriptions: Open an issue to see a detailed description of what's required. Look for issues that match your interests and skills.
Ask to be assigned: Pick an issue and request to be assigned to it.
Join Discussions: Engage with the community in issue discussions. Ask questions, seek clarification, and let others know you're interested in working on a particular problem.
Making Contributions
Once you've chosen an issue, it's time to get to dive in:
Fork the Repository: Click the "Fork" button on the top right of the repository page. This creates a copy of the repo in your GitHub account.
Clone the Repository: Use Git to clone the repository to your local machine. You can find the repository's URL on your forked repo's page.
Create a Branch: Create a new branch for your contribution. Name it something relevant to the issue you're working on.
Make Changes: Write code, fix bugs, or add features based on the issue's requirements.
Test Thoroughly: If your contribution involves using the Chimoney API, ensure that you test your changes in the Chimoney Sandbox. Use your API keys for testing.
Commit and Push: Commit your changes and push them to your forked repo.
Submit a Pull Request (PR): On GitHub, navigate to your forked repository and create a pull request. Explain your changes, reference the issue number, and submit.
What Happens Next?
Your PR will be reviewed by the project maintainers. They may provide feedback or ask for changes. Be patient and responsive during this process. Collaboration is key!
