It had been over half a year since my last in-person meetup experience, which was the WeMakeDevs Delhi meetup. However, when I discovered the Disruptive Tech Delhi meetup, I just filled out the registration form without hesitation. And now, looking back, I'm glad that I did!

On December 16, 2023, I had the privilege of immersing myself in a gathering of experts and enthusiasts from diverse fields.

No more waiting - let's dive into Disruptive Tech Delhi!

Event Kickoff 🚀

The event began with a warm welcome from Kunal Kushwaha, the Developer Relations Manager at Civo. Following the welcome, he led an insightful Ask Me Anything (AMA) session, addressing any queries the attendees had.

One takeaway from this experience was the importance of arriving at meetups with prepared questions.

Kunal set the tone for the event!

Navigating the Cloud Native Universe ☁️

Aayush Sharma and Bhavya Sachdeva delivered an exceptional presentation on navigating the Cloud Native ecosystem. They provided valuable insights on contributing to CNCF projects, emphasizing both code and non-code contributions. The duo painted a comprehensive picture, illustrating how one can become a part of the CNCF ecosystem.

The session proved to be immensely informative, offering a clear understanding of how one can actively contribute to the expansive CNCF Universe.

For those seeking further resources, Aayush and Bhavya also shared some valuable resources:

  1. CNCF Landscape

  2. Cloud Native Trail Map

Kubernetes and WebAssembly: Better Together 🤝

Shivay Lamba took the stage for the next segment, delivering an engaging talk on the synergies between Kubernetes and WebAssembly. In his interactive session, he went beyond theory, providing a live demonstration of running a 'Hello, World!' program in Rust using WebAssembly.

Shivay delved into the unique aspects of WebAssembly, shedding light on its advantages over Docker. Moreover, he shared insights into how various companies have embraced WebAssembly in their workflows.

The session is really amazing. For many attendees, including myself, it was the first time gaining a comprehensive understanding of this powerful technology.

Resources shared by Shivay:

Using imposter syndrome to your advantage 🎭

After the enriching presentations, the event featured a captivating session by Kunal Kushwaha on leveraging imposter syndrome to one's advantage. Kunal delved into the significance of imposter syndrome in pushing individuals beyond their limits and fostering continuous learning.

A highlight of the session was Kunal's perspective on imposter syndrome as a necessary catalyst for personal and professional growth. He emphasized that not experiencing imposter syndrome might indicate a lack of challenge or exploration.

Kunal's session offered a refreshing and insightful take on imposter syndrome, encouraging attendees to embrace it as a tool for self-improvement.

Amazing panel on tech entrepreneurship💡

Next up, we have an amazing panel on tech entrepreneurship by Kunal Kushwaha, Ananay Arora & Shivay Lamba - was one of the most anticipated talks of the event.

Ananay Arora also shared from his past personal experiences that once in his interview with Apple, how they just asked a simple question on reversing a String around DSA & were only focused towards his career goals & experiences.

Discussion groups 💬

In a unique and engaging activity, attendees were divided into groups of 8. Each team had 45 minutes to collaboratively prepare a brief speech addressing common goals and the challenges hindering their achievement. The collaborative effort aimed to foster discussions on shared aspirations and obstacles faced by the participants.

Adding an extra layer of excitement, two lucky individuals were rewarded with swags as a token of recognition for their active participation in this collaborative discussion group activity.

Networking, Pizzas & Swags🍕

It's impossible to forget about the amazing food & network we received at the event! The organizers truly outdid themselves.

For lunch, they provided us with mouthwatering pizzas and refreshing drinks, knowing that techies just can't resist a good slice of pizza.

Not able to get much swags but got one WASM sticker which looks super cool! 🤩

To top it all off, I even managed to snap some photos with the amazing speakers and fellow attendees.

Wrap-up🎁

The Disruptive Tech meetup was an incredibly enriching experience, one that will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on my journey in technology. I left the event feeling inspired and motivated, having gained a deeper understanding of a range of topics from Cloud Native to WebAssembly, and having had the opportunity to connect with other passionate individuals in the tech community.

The event was a testament to the immense value of in-person gatherings and the power of networking. I was blown away by the knowledge and insights shared by the speakers, and the opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals were truly invaluable.

Huge thanks to the organizers and Kunal Kushwaha for putting together such a fantastic event, full of enriching experiences and valuable takeaways. I'm looking forward to attending future events and continuing to learn and grow alongside the tech community.
