Hello everyone, Is Me again!

This is the second blog of my Outreachy internship. It's been three weeks since the internship started and the journey so far has be so so great. I had a meeting with my mentors, Outreachy organizers, it was a great feeling talking and getting introduced to them.

Being an intern at Mboalab has provided me with an incredible opportunity to Collaborate in a real world project as a team. As part of the team, we have weekly schedule and task that we needed to ensure they are completed at the end of each week. In this blog post, I want to share one of my struggles and how I am actively dealing with it as I navigate the dynamic and collaborative environment at Mboalab.

Navigating the Team Towards Goal Achievement

One of the unique aspects of my internship is being part of a team. In a team, the emphasis is shifts from individual roles to effective communication and collaboration to achieve organizational goals. While I had prior experience working with a team within Mboalab, the dynamics of this internship presented me with new challenges to overcome.

Initially, I had this mindset that was focused on meeting my personal goals and fulfilling my specific roles. This way of thinking and doing things as an individual had to changed!. It was now a routine for me to be seeking support and guidance from the team whenever I needed it. However, as an intern, I had to shift my perspective from personal achievement to collective success. I had to learn how to work effectively as a team toward a shared objective.

This shift in focus proved to be a significant adjustment for me and brought about several struggles. I realized that there is a fundamental difference between working with others to achieve personal goals and working together to achieve a common goal. It required me to step outside my comfort zone and adapt to a collaborative mindset, where the success of the team as a whole need to be efficient.

How I’m Dealing with My Struggles:

During my early weeks of internship, my eagerness for making sure that everyone perform their task led me some how astray. In my pursuit of excellence, I made some mistakes along the way, which had an impact on the project, my teammate and my mentor too.

There's no greater joy like that of working on a project as a team, the collaboration and contributions makes the work easy and the work go faster. Recognizing the need for change, I took a step back to reflect on my approach. I acknowledged my mistakes and sincerely apologized for any disruption of the project goal. Taking responsibility for my actions, I had to improved on my collaborative efforts to be a good team player.

Effective collaboration relies on mutual understanding and communication, I’m actively seeking to understand and appreciate the unique skills and contributions of my teammate. Engaging in open and honest conversations with my team member, and dedicating time to learning more about their unique skills and responsibilities will not only help me gain valuable insights into their expertise but also foster a sense of unity within the team.

Evaluating on my first weeks as an Outreachy intern, I am proud of the progress I have made in overcoming my struggles. The team environment has taught me the value of collaboration, effective communication, and the power of collective effort. Embracing the diversity of skills and perspectives within the team enables us to create innovative solutions and achieve remarkable results.

Moving forward, I am so excited to continue growing and contributing to the team's success. Is a learning and growing process. Is all about team work and understanding. There's this saying that to go far, go with a team or with a crowd.

Stay tuned for more blog post on my stay as an Outreachy intern!!!!.
