System Restore in Windows 11

What is System Restore?

System Restore is a feature in Windows where we can go back to a specific state of our system. It enables us to create a backup of the registry, system files, batch files, and installed programs that can be restored in case of system failures in the future. It is wise to do so before debloating or modifying the registry.

To create a full backup of our hard drive/system, we may create a system image or use the cloud.

Creating System Restore Point

To create a system restore point, we need to follow the following steps :

  1. Press Windows + R and type sysdm.cpl to open System Properties window.

  2. Click on System protection tab.

  3. Select C drive and click on Configure.

  4. A new window will open, enable Turn on system protection and click OK.

  5. You may allocate maximum storage for backup too.

  6. Now, click on Create to make a restore point.

  7. Provide a name to Restore point.

  8. Within a few seconds, the restore point will be created on your Windows 11 PC.

Using System Restore Point

We can use a previously created recovery point by forcefully opening the Recovery menu during boot.
