Outreachy week 5: Mboacare (Your Health, Simplified!!)

Hi everyone, it's Me again!.

Imagine how difficult it is to get information about health facilities in a given country such as information on what kind of services is offered by a given health facility, services like the kind of operation, the kind of diseases they treat. Finally imagine how difficult to navigate to those health facilities if not properly known. With Mboacare Your health is simplified!!.

Welcome to my third blog post which I will be talking about the project am Interning on and also about the Organization.

What is Mboacare?:

Mboacare is an open-source mobile application designed and developed by MboaLab. Accessing quality healthcare services, whether in your local area or abroad, can be a daunting task. Mboacare is a mobile application platform that allows users to easily find and connect with medical facilities around the world. With Mboacare users are able to browser and locate health facilities at the comfort of their homes.

Mboacare does not only provide medical health facilities information but also with the blog section users are able to get some health tips and best practices to good health content. There's nothing better than being Strong health wise and Mboacare aims at providing solution for your health problem.

Project Motivation 👏

• Getting up-to-date information about medical facilities, services offered, and their location is often difficult.

• Referring patients to the right medical facility by other healthcare providers is also a challenge.

With Mboacare users are able to get up-to-date information about which health services are provided by which medical facility, and also medical providers are able to refer patients to the right medical facility for proper treatment and diagnosis.

Mboalab community:

Mboalab is an open and collaborative space located in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Operating as a research and applied Center for Open Science and Citizen Science, Mboalab was officially opened in December 2017. By association, Mboalab means the house of innovation. The main missions of Mboalab include:

• Provide community and lifelong education for the population, as well as formal education for the younger generations.

• Serve as a platform for exchanges on issues related to local context

• Mediate between local communities and academia.

• Propose solutions that meet the needs of communities, using local knowledge and open digital technologies.

• Raise public awareness of environmental issues.

• Facilitate access to basic health care.

My Experience so far with Mboalab community:

A fantastic community with very supportive and mentoring mentors who are passionate about producing high-quality open-source software.
With the help of my mentors, I have so far been able to achieve significant milestones in my intern project.
I would say that I have learnt a lot thus far, and I still have a lot to learn.

I am so exited to contribute this project and belonging to such a community. The Community has been my passion, being able to work on open source project that is center about the community and humanity as whole. With Mboalab those dream and passion are coming through.

The work is going on quite well and I have learnt a lot over the past few weeks. Stay tuned for more updates on my internship.
