DevSecOps and why?
Hello folks,
I hope you are doing great today!
Ok, so, as I previously stated, I am a computer science major with a specialisation in DevSecOps. Some of you may be wondering what it is and why you ought to major in it, so today I will answer the what and whys!!
Devsecops can be divided into:
Dev + Sec + Ops = Developer + Security + Operations
Now you might be thinking that DevOps and cyber security are totally different things, my dear. I'm curious, so why settle for less when you can have it all? (Well, it also takes a lot of hard work and passion to get it all while topping it off with my honours.)
Anyway, back to the topic. DevOps is an amazing field to explore. It talks about automatic things like developing and building new applications and deploying them while having to maintain and add new things to them. Security talks about how and why to secure the things that you are doing. Security is a form of privacy for me. Well, you don't want a stalker who claims to be deep in love with you to just imprison you for himself or get tortured for things you do around the internet. This is where security is needed, my dear friends. It saves you and your things from being watched over by a third party or anyone; you are just there for the information, like your pins and passwords.
Well, based on all these aspects, I thought I wanted to build things for people around me while having them not worry about security and privacy while they use my application, and my build application doesn't have loopholes for hackers and stalkers to build their traps there.
DevSecOps is an amazing field according to the new ever-evolving industry, and it is considered one of the three pillars of the future technology and IT industries, which are AI, cloud computing, and DevOps. I'll be talking about it in future blogs, so keep updated.
DevOps and cyber security may seem like two separate domains, but they are deeply intertwined. DevOps is all about delivering software faster and more reliably, while cyber security is all about protecting software from malicious attacks. Both require a high level of technical skill, creativity, and collaboration. By combining DevOps and cyber security, you can achieve the best of both worlds: a secure and agile software development process that can meet the ever-changing needs and challenges of the digital era. As an avid learner and explorer, I am always looking for new ways to expand my horizons and enhance my capabilities in both DevOps and cyber security.
Now, you might be wondering why I have mentioned DevOps and DevSecOps continuously side by side, what the difference is, and how one.
DevSecOps is just a tech industry buzzword that has been around for a long time. In the very beginning of the time, it was known as software engineering, which meant building software applications. Then, the marketing people came along and started doing technical maintenance work; they came to know as operations people who maintained the software after the developer had made it. As for the early models like waterfall and V-shaped models, they didn't work much on the feedback system, and once the developer had made the programme, it was just given to the operations people to maintain it with the bug fix and all other future updates.
In response to the challenges posed by the traditional separation of development and operations teams, the concept of DevOps emerged as a way to bridge the gap between these two crucial aspects of the software development life cycle. DevOps, a portmanteau of "development" and "operations," represents a cultural and collaborative approach that emphasizes communication, integration, and automation throughout the entire software delivery process.
Well, I have talked a lot on this and I can keep going on and on on this topics, it's a endless realm to be discussed upon. For now let's keep this short and we will continue to talk on this more and we will diving deep into its tools trades.
Stay tuned for more exciting content, until we cross paths again, Adieu
