Hello, I am Ejiro, and I’m a business analyst. My journey into business analysis began in 2022, just before I graduated from Uni. Surprisingly, business analysis was never my career choice. It wasn't even on my radar until my project supervisor mentioned it and asked me to learn more. At that time, I was still exploring different career paths, with SEO strategy as a top contender. So, transitioning to business analysis seemed like a far-fetched idea, and honestly, I wasn’t sure what it was all about.

I decided to do some research. I Googled "business analysis" and watched numerous YouTube videos on the topic. As I immersed myself in these resources, something clicked. Suddenly, I could envision myself as a business analyst. I found the role intriguing, and I could already see myself thriving in that career path.

I delved even deeper into the world of business analysis. I downloaded more videos to expand my understanding and watched countless "day in the life" videos of business analysts. The more I learned, the more captivated I became. I found myself daydreaming about scenarios where I played the role of a business analyst... and the daydreaming never stopped!

My first experience as a business analyst was at a tech startup. I got the opportunity to step into the role of a business analyst for this company because I was actively seeking opportunities to work on projects that would bring me closer to the career of a business analyst. It was a short period, but during that time, I had the chance to put into practice all I had learned from watching those YouTube videos. But trust me when I say it wasn’t easy. It became especially challenging when I had to elicit requirements.

Eliciting requirements is a significant aspect of a business analyst’s job. It involves asking questions and listening carefully to understand exactly what a company or person needs. While it may sound straightforward, trust me, it wasn’t.

I have decided to start this blog to share my journey into business analysis. While I’m still relatively new to being a business analyst, I have valuable experience and knowledge to share. This blog will not only document my learning process but also serve as a platform to share insights and tips as I grow in this field.
