  1. Linux Foundation Mentorship Program (LFX): The Linux Foundation runs this initiative, which matches up-and-coming open-source talent with seasoned mentors. In order to submit an application, the students choose a project and set up a profile. Three projects can be applied at once by mentees.

  2. Hyperledger Mentorship Program: The Hyperledger Mentorship Program is aimed at creating a structured hands-on learning opportunity for new contributors who may otherwise lack the opportunity to gain exposure to or entry into the Hyperledger open source development community. It also provides a more defined path for Hyperledger to connect with the next generation of developers and researchers to inject more talent into its community.

  3. FOSSASIA Codeheat: CodeHeat is the annual coding contest for students and developers to contribute to Free and Open Source software (FOSS) and open hardware projects.

  4. FOSSASIA Internship Program: FOSSASIA Internship Program is an initiative by FOSSASIA, an organization focused on developing open-source software and hardware solutions. The internship program offers opportunities for students and developers to work on projects related to open-source technologies, such as web development, mobile apps, artificial intelligence, and more.

  5. Linux Kernel Mentorship Program: The Linux Kernel Mentorship Program offers a structured remote learning opportunity to aspiring Linux Kernel developers. Experienced Linux Kernel developers and maintainers mentor volunteer mentees and help them become contributors to the Linux Kernel.

  6. Linux Foundation Networking(LFN) mentorship program: The LF Networking (LFN) intern/mentorship program is aimed at creating a structured hands-on learning opportunity for new developers who may otherwise lack the opportunity to gain exposure to open source software development and entry to the LFN projects' technical communities.

  7. The X.Org Endless Vacation of Code (EVoC): For the last several years, X.Org was a participating mentoring organization in Google's most excellent Summer of Code (GSoC) program. That program provides approximately US$5000 to students to spend their summer developing code for an open source project. Each student proposes a project and is matched with an organization mentor who guides and evaluates the work. GSoC was great for X.Org; we saw more than a dozen students through it, and some of these students went on to be extremely active contributors to X.Org.
