UI Updates and more!!!

Our game is now known as "Rift of the Realms". This new title is not only easier to pronounce but also accompanies a freshly designed title and poster. I worked on Adobe Illustrator for these designs, which allowed for a seamless integration of our visual concepts.

Backend Improvements

A significant upgrade has been our decision to host our game’s database on Render.com, utilising the Laravel framework. Special thanks to Molly for spearheading this transition and setting up the backend so efficiently.

User Interface Enhancements

Our user interface has received a comprehensive update to make it more visually appealing and interactive:

  1. Login Screen Update: The revamped login screen now features enhanced input fields for username and password, paired with a streamlined login button that directs users to the Start Menu.

  2. Account Creation Accessibility: We’ve added a 'Create Account' panel, accessible via a dedicated button. This panel simplifies the registration process, storing user data securely on our Laravel managed database.

  3. Start Menu Design: I've redesigned the Start Menu to include intuitive navigation buttons for starting the game, adjusting settings, logging out, and quitting. An additional button showcases the shop layout, and adjacent to this, a Gold Coin UI indicates the player’s currency balance.

  4. Lobby UI Update: The Lobby scene has been redesigned.

  5. Realm Identification: Newly designed logos for the Light Realm and Dark Realm help reinforce the game's theme and player alignment.

  6. Currency UI: I've created new designs for the Silver and Gold coins to better reflect their importance within the game economy.

  7. Game Interface: The game interface now includes a newly designed scoreboard at the top, displaying the number of Machine Parts collected and machines repaired. Additionally, round countdown timers for both Realms are synchronised via the Photon network, with distinctive team badges indicating player alignment. Further enhancements include clear UI elements next to Health, Bullets, and Magazine indicators.

  8. Machine Update: A new machine prefab has been added, players in the Light Realm can repair machines by pressing the 'E' key near them. A UI progress wheel provides real time feedback on the repair status, visibly confirming when a machine is fixed.

  9. Character Development: We've also integrated new character prefabs, complete with basic movement animations.

Presentation

In further exciting news, our final presentation was delivered in class on 27th March. Both Molly and Lakshya did an outstanding job showcasing our project, earning positive feedback on our development plan.

These updates mark significant milestones in the development of "Rift of the Realms". Each enhancement not only improves gameplay but also enriches the user experience, reflecting the hard work and creativity of our team.

Acknowledgements

I would like to extend my gratitude to my teammates for their invaluable contributions to our project. A special thanks to Lakshya for his excellent map designs, Molly for setting up the machine mechanics, and Shelly for her strategic planning of the game's user interface.

Thank you for following our progress, and stay tuned for more updates as we continue to refine and expand our game!
