~ intro to my dev blog! ~
I decided I'm going to take my graduation summer to develop some of my skills before I start really looking for a job. Ofc Im going to still apply but I'm not going to be stressed if I don't get a job yet. If it hits September and I don't... I might start to get stressed, just a littleπ€ (future me says it hit September π).
Anyways, I'm going to be using this as my dev blog, like a daily journal. That way I can keep track of my progress. Every day I'll write a summary of the new skills I learned and add a little screenshot of what I worked on.
Since I'd like to start of with front-end development I'm going to be refreshing my web dev skills. I am very confident with my HTML, but that's abt it. In CSS and Javascript I have very basic knowledge and I plan to work on that. I also want to work on PHP and MySQL but I think I'm more competent in those than the prior 2, so I'll start with those first. Then I want to learn some frameworks, I'm not sure which ones yet but I've seen React, Bootstrap, Sass, and Tailwind recommended so I'll see which one I want to start with. And AWS but I still need to look into exactly what I'm planning on learning.
Eventually, I want to get into educational games and VR development, so I also need to work on my Unity and GameMaker skills. So, I'll also be working on developing those skills as well by making some educational games. I've been working on 2 that I think are pretty nice.
So for a benchmark, I'll add my knowledge ratings of what skills I'm working on as of right now...
HTML: βββββ
CSS: βββββ
JavaScript: βββββ
Unity: βββββ
GameMaker: βββββ
AWS: βββββ
Soon, they should all be at 5, which doesn't mean full mastery (bc ofc you could always learn more) but it means I'm confident enough in my skills that if somebody wanted me to teach them, I could. Which is what one of my teachers used to use as a scale of mastery of a topic in my math class and it stuck with me.
But that's it for today, bye!
