Just start again
I have always found poetry to be a way to romanticize life. When I get hit by my thoughts, writing poetry becomes a form of therapy for me. It's a way to speak my mind, especially after feeling stuck in life. Often, I forget that I have this therapeutic outlet.
Recently, my university hosted a giew week dedicated to various activities, including a competition called Speakathon, which focused on the importance of values in career building. When I saw the competition, I thought of it as an opportunity not just to compete, but to share my poetry with others. It wasn't about winning for me; it was about proving to myself that I could write again.
Participating in the competition reignited my passion for writing. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of crafting my poem, and it brought me immense happiness to give myself the chance to express my thoughts and emotions through poetry once more.
The day of the speakathon competition arrived and I stood before the audience. With each word that escaped my lips, I felt a wave of adrenaline course through my veins. Although I did not win, this experience served as a crucial reminder that I should just start writing again. The joy I felt during the process was more rewarding than any prize.
Success is not always in awards but in the courage to pursue one's passion as the poet Rumi said: "The wound is the place where the light enters you" The same in my moment of defeat I found not darkness but light that illuminated the path forward towards a future filled with endless possibilities. Writing poetry is my therapy, and this experience reaffirmed my commitment to it. I am grateful for the reminder to always embrace the power of poetry in my life.
