Week 1: The Proposal
I have wanted to make a game for a while now and have sat on the sidelines for long enough. It is time for me to start taking some action on behalf of my creativity, desire, and passion. So now what?
The game needs funding. I would prefer a private investor as opposed to crowdfunding as this would allow me to work in relative peace and not have to simultaneously juggle an audience. I also feel that releasing the game "seemingly out of nowhere" will have a greater artistic effect, than building it in the public eye. Also, I am not an established studio, I am a nobody. So instead of trying to convince the public of my artistic worth, I'd rather just do the work and come to the public when I have something to show. For now, I only need to convince a single investor.
I have an idea who I am going to ask. I randomly met him at the gym a few months ago and I honestly feel like this was the Universe planting the seeds to my success. In a sense, "luck is when preparation meets opportunity," and I am as prepared as I'll ever be.
I am going to assemble a 5 slide power point in order to convince this man to give me the $$$ . Slide 1, Key Art that evokes and establishes the mood. Slide 2, what the game is about with a photo of the game world. Slide 3, features of the game with a photo of the character spreadsheet(s). Slide 4, Timeline of deliverables with a photo of a scene taking place. Slide 5, Key Art that recites the mood and poses a question.
Now I need to actually sit down and draw the artwork mentioned above. I came to the library in order to draw, but there are too many people here so I opted to write this blog post instead. I call that productive procrastination.
