I have been observing this for quite a long time. Students who are about to graduate are worried about job placement or their career, which is understandable. It is very important to do a self-assessment, accept the facts, and focus on the pain points. The point I am trying to make here is about the guidance they have received.

Except for a few colleges/institutes, I have observed that there are no industry-experienced faculty who can help students and at least guide them to the correct path, which is very important. Perhaps it's just the curriculum extracted from the book, and that's where the problem lies.

Students aren't aware of what the real work environment looks like, how communication happens in the business world and with stakeholders, and how that communication turns into requirements.

According to me the solution would be,

  1. Create a Base of your fundamentals: Your fundamentals should be strong because that is the only thing you have to understand any other advanced concepts.

  2. Communication: You don't need to be fluent in English, but at least learn or adopt enough so that you can explain your point. I went to a college to observe the final year students' projects, which were good at their level. However, it was very disappointing when they were not able to explain or answer in the international business language, "English."

  3. Make sure you have a short term plan/goal to execute and get it reviewed from someone who actually understand it and get time to time feedback.

  4. In terms of technology whatever you code, whatever tiny projects you create keep it somewhere like GitHub.

  5. Be the part of relevant community online, and observe what's going on.

Above 5 points will make you confident and definitely help you in your career.

and yes, Its not very difficult to channelize the things it is just you need Focus, patience and acceptance.
