Work reconvertion: A big challenge

Hello there! I hope you're doing great this week!

In my last post, I talked about my studying route, and today I gonna talk to you about my laboral situation at this moment.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...

In 2011 when I was started to work, I wasn't think about my actual situation. I wasn't imagine me studying and working like programmer.

By the way, in 2011 I didn't have a projection about myself or my working route (neither goals). So, today I need to recap (with short story) my own working story and my laboral reconvertion situation.

How is possible that me try to change 10 years of work? 10 years of learnings, improving differents skills, making my best (or that's I was think), and doing it for nothing? When I say "doing it for nothing", I mean that is one of my thoughts. Obviously, I was wrong. I walked across a lot of places, sometimes with success, others not much... But all in this life, is a learning.

The big learning: Softs Skills

At the administrative area, you need tons of softs skills. I mean, you need to know how to communicate with others, analyse every situation, talking with empathy and assertive, manage your time, tasks priority, and do your work having a entire life out of your work.

Well, let me tell you something: I appreciate every moment of my past work route, even the worst moments (they made me the person who I am today). I wish it had been another way, because sometimes you learned with the hard way. Nobody told me how to do it, but that helps me to my laboral reconvertion.

Softs Skills: Important like code

First of all, the communication. Yes, it's one of the firsts and primitive skills of humans. We needed to communicate with others to generate little survival groups. Today it's the same. You need survive to the world, to your boss, to every problem that appear into your life. So, you never kwno when somebody can helps you!

I know, sometimes it's really difficult communicate with others. But nothing compares with the miscommunication. You need to avoid that. Think this: How makes you feel if somebody that you love or appreciate much, have miscommunication with you for a big problem that involves you? I think that you gonna feeling bad...

So, here play four important elements: communication, analyse, empathy and assertive. Yup, four elements into one. It's more deep to understand, but I'm gonna trying to simplify.
First element, the communication: at least you need to try, be natural, don't force the talks, but don't be quiet. A little conversation it's all you need to start! If you don't have a problem with this, maybe I recommend you look up some YouTube videos on public speaking, some techniques and how to use your voice correctly.
Second element, the analyse: you need to "training your eye", pay attention to your environment, to the people who rounds, the words that people say when they are having a talk with you, the pro and cons of your decisions or actions. You need to analyse the risks of your relationships, get away from toxic people who only want is to put you into a deep black hole that you never will go out. So, take care!
Third element, empathy: before you say something, think about that. Think how that benefits or make hurts others. My little advice, try doing this exercise. Try to put yourself in the other's place. Now, how you feel if you receive your own message? Make you feel good? Or maybe that hurts you? Well, that's really conected with the last element. The way that you say everything.
Fourth element, assertive: to be assertive you need use the correct forms to talk. When I mean "correct forms", that implies that you will use the right words and don't be aggressive, far from it, passive-aggressive. You have a lot of ways to say the same thing. So, you need to choose the best way to say something. Look back and check the others elements. They are connected!

The reconvertion

Well, at this moment i'm into this process. It's really hard to walk, because I'm learning the technical skills, and I don't have the best learning technical acquisition. That's because my programming logics it's not really strong.

All of this makes me feel a little bit far away from my main goal. But this process is like scale a mountain. You need to do it slowly and be sure about every step that you do.

I have a good background with my softs skills, so I need to improve my technical skills and combine that to make a greater professional and get the goal!

I hope you enjoyed the reading!!! See you next time!

P.S: With this blog, I am practicing my English writing skills and entering the programmers community.
