How to Reset the Nest Camera

Nest Camera reset may be required for troubleshooting altering settings or prepping the device for a new user.

  • To reset your Nest Camera ensure it is plugged in and turned on. Locate your camera's reset button which is typically a little pinhole or button on the back or bottom of the device. Press and hold the reset button for 10-15 seconds with a paperclip or other similar implement.

  • The camera's status light will change to indicate that the reset process has begun. Once the light flashes or turns off, release the button.

  • Following the reset the camera will reboot and revert to factory settings. This process may take several minutes. Once done the camera will be ready for use as if it were brand new.

  • Open the Nest app on your smartphone, navigate to the settings and then select "Add product." Follow the on-screen directions to reconnect your camera to your Wi-Fi network and set your preferences.

  • A reset can help to rectify connectivity issues, software malfunctions and prepare the camera for a new network or user account. If you continue to have troubles visit the Nest support website or call customer care for assistance.
