Discovering Backend Development Through HNG: My Experience and Insights

Hey everyone, I'm new to backend and excited to share a personal challenge and how I'm overcoming it. But first, let me introduce myself. I'm Ayomide Fowokan, and like many of you, I'm passionate about backend development and coding in general and I'm eager to improve my skills. That's why I'm excited to start my journey with the HNG Internship!

Now, onto the Challenge! In the last year, I struggled with procrastination and self-esteem issues. I kept delaying important tasks, which made me feel inadequate and doubtful of myself. Imagine setting goals and never reaching them, always feeling like you're falling short!

Here's how I tackled procrastination and self-esteem issues:

1. Self-Awareness: First, I needed to understand my habits. I looked closely at my daily routine to see when and why I procrastinated. This helped me spot patterns and triggers that caused delays.

2. Breaking Tasks Down: The problems seemed huge at first, so I broke them into smaller, manageable tasks. By focusing on one small step at a time, I made progress without feeling overwhelmed.

3. Creating a Routine: I set a daily schedule with specific times for work and breaks. This routine helped me stay on track and reduced the urge to procrastinate.

4. Positive Reinforcement: I celebrated small victories to boost my self-esteem. Each completed task, no matter how small, was a win that built my confidence.

5. Seeking Support: I reached out to friends and mentors for advice and encouragement. Their support helped me stay motivated and reminded me that I wasn't alone in my struggles.

By following these steps, I gradually overcame procrastination and improved my self-esteem, making steady progress which includes finishing a soft skills program, gained beginners knowledge in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, learned to write codes, and built a simple store website by putting the codes together and i went back to practicing my Art.

This experience strengthened my love for backend development and the need for strong systems. But I know there's always more to learn. That's why I'm excited to join the HNG Internship!
