A Report from DMS01 Evaluation Table: India
Key Challenges for India's TVET System (DMS01)
Regional Disparities: Significant differences in economic development across regions lead to uneven access to and quality of TVET programs.
Quality and Relevance of Training: While there are numerous training programs, the quality and relevance of training to actual industry needs can vary, affecting the employability of graduates.
Scalability and Reach: The vast population and geographic diversity pose challenges in scaling effective training programs to reach all potential beneficiaries, especially in rural and underprivileged areas.
This evaluation of India within the DMS03 framework highlights a Mediator Dominant nature, where government policies and partnerships play a central role in shaping the TVET landscape. These actions aim to align the demand from industries with the supply from educational institutions. However, despite these efforts, challenges remain in ensuring that the training quality and reach effectively match the regional and sector-specific needs of India’s diverse economy.
