Vrinda Store’s Annual Sales Report: Analysis & Insights

Introduction

Vrinda Store, a leading retailer, conducted a comprehensive analysis of its sales data for 2023 to gain customer insights and optimize sales strategies. This report details the data collection, processing, analysis, and key findings.

Objective

This project aimed to generate a detailed annual sales report for 2023, enabling Vrinda Store to understand its customer base and develop data-driven sales strategies.

Data Collection

The dataset was collected from Kaggle.com. The dataset included variables such as index, Order ID, Cust ID, Gender, Age, Date, Status, Channel, SKU, Category, Size, Qty, currency, Amount, ship-city, ship-state, ship-postal-code, ship-country, B2B.

Data Cleaning

Inconsistent values in the Gender and Qty columns were identified and rectified. For example, "M" was replaced with "Men" in the Gender column, and text entries like "One" in the Qty column were converted to numerical values (1).

Data Processing

New columns, "Month" and "Age Group", were created to facilitate further analysis. The "Month" column extracted the month from the existing "Date" column. The "Age Group" column categorized customers based on age ranges using an IF formula.

Data Analysis and Findings

  • Sales Trends: A Combo chart revealed March as the month with the highest sales (approximately $1.80 million).

  • Customer Demographics: A Pie chart indicated that women contributed the most to sales (around 65%). A Clustered Column Chart further showed that the age group of 25-34 years old contributed the most (approximately 25%).

  • Sales Channels: Analysis identified Amazon, Myntra, and Flipkart as the leading sales channels.

  • Geographical Trends: A Bar Chart highlighted Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh as the top 3 states in terms of sales.

Recommendations

Based on the findings, Vrinda Store should consider:

  • Targeting female customers aged 25-34 residing in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh.

  • Utilizing advertising, promotional offers, and coupons on platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and Myntra to reach this target audience.

  • Implementing targeted sales campaigns, such as Women's Day promotions in March, to capitalize on peak sales periods.
