Reflections on Our Final Soft Skills Sessions at TIIDElab
Last night, July 29, 2024, we had our final soft skills session at TIIDELab . Soft skills have been one of my favorite aspects of TIIDElab, and I couldn't afford to miss it. ๐
We had four different soft skills classes, each with its unique topic and knowledge. In the first class, we talked about 'Attitude.' That session made me always look forward to Mr Shamsudeen Aderoju Adedapo popularly known as (Mr Shams) hosting any session. It was such an interactive and interesting class where everyone got to share their views and opinions. I remember sharing how someone's good attitude influenced me when I was in camp. ๐
In the second week, we had a presentation skills class. We learned the difference between public speaking and presentations. Public speaking is broader and involves various formats such as debates, lectures, and informal talks. Presentations, on the other hand, are a subcomponent of public speaking, often more formal and structured. This was one of the sessions I enjoyed the most, and it gave me the confidence to speak in a gathering with the appropriate skills.
The third soft skills class was on storytelling. This session wasn't about telling an actual story but focused on the art of effective storytelling in product marketing and presentation skills. We had the pleasure of hosting Mrs. Cynthia Shobayo. One of her statements that I hold on to is, "Storytelling is breathing life into a topic." This simply means that storytelling is crucial and vital as it gives the consumer or buyer more insight into our products. She further pointed out that storytelling must be clear, concise, precise, and communicate without jargon. It was such an insightful session.๐
Now, let me give you the full gist about the last soft skills session held last night. Our final session was about article writing and crafting an interesting profile. After the class yesterday, I knew my social media profile needed a good revamping. Mr. Shams dived into the components of a profile, which include: Introduction, employment status, skill set, education, and hobbies. We also learned the importance of writing articles and profiles in an acceptable format. We saw examples of perfectly written articles and profiles in the slideshows shared. Trust Mr. Shams to always make the class fun! He asked the guys in the house how they would introduce themselves to a girl they just met, and believe me, they fell flat. It was so funny! ๐
I want to take this moment to thank TIIDELab . I really can't thank TIIDElab enough for the great opportunity given to us. I learned a lot of things I would never have learned in a traditional classroom. A huge thanks to Mr Shamsudeen Aderoju Adedapo for always giving us the most insightful sessions.๐
Lest I forget, it's also our graduation week. Congratulations to everyone who made it this far, and happy graduation in advance to us! ๐๐
