My 6-Week Journey in TIIDELab Prefellowship Cohort 4: A Transformative Experience

I recently completed the 6-week TIIDELab Prefellowship Cohort 4 program, and it was an incredible journey of learning, growth, and transformation. My name is Olatunji Okunlola Timilehin. In this article, I will share my experiences, from setting up my web development toolkit to working on a team project, SymptomsAi, and acquiring essential soft skills.

Weeks 1-2: Web Development Fundamentals

The program began with setting up my web development toolkit, including VSCode, Git, and GitHub. I learned HTML basics, building a Barbershop landing page, and improved it using CSS. I also explored CSS media queries, implementing both desktop-first and mobile-first approaches.

Weeks 3-4: Python Basics and Beyond

In week 3, I delved into Python basics, covering syntax, data types, variables, and control structures. I implemented a basic text-based game, solidifying my understanding. Week 4 focused on functions and classes, which I applied to enhance my work.

Week 5: Introduction to APIs in Python

I learned about APIs, HTTP requests, and response handling. I made a GET request to a public API and displayed the response. I also worked on a project, fetching and displaying data using a public API.

Portfolio Website and Team Project

In week 3, I started building my portfolio website using HTML and CSS. I created sections for my home page, about me, contact information, skills, and CV.

I was grouped into Team T-Quest, working on SymptomsAi, an AI-powered medical prompt system. Our project features a symptom input system, AI-driven diagnosis, confidence scores, medical advice, and treatment information.

Soft Skills and Community Engagement

Throughout the program, I acquired essential soft skills, including public speaking, attitudes & success , presentation skills, storytelling, and article writing. Every Saturday, we participated in X-Twitter Space, seeking answers from distinguished alumni. On Tuesdays, we held town hall meetings, electing a class governor for the week.

Conclusion

I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of TIIDELab Prefellowship Cohort 4. I thank Mr. Shams, Unclebigbay, Mr. Tijani, Mr. Divine, my team members, accountability partners, AI-class instructors, and the entire TIIDELab team for their guidance and support. This experience has transformed me, and I am eager to apply my newfound skills and knowledge.
