My Experience at TiideLab Pre-fellowing Programme
Finally, Tiide lab Pre-Fellowship is coming to an end and I must say that it was a wonderful experience. The intense classes, , the jaw dropping presentation by each teams, various Tasks such as building of Personal Portfolio and also the fun times such as the games/karaoke night, Youth Skill Day presentation and all has shaped me differently these past few weeks.
Hi my name is Akpesiri Ughe, and this is the little high light of my experience at TIIDELab pre-fellowship progamme. This experience has enhanced my tech skills from Novice to an intermediate Techie.
It all started with the opening with an on-boarding session, where we were for the first time introduced to the amazing Mr Aderoju Shamsdeen Adedapo, who introduced to the rest of the Tiide lab teams.
The first week of the programme we were introduced to the basics of HTML and CSS, which was lectured by Ayodele Samuel Adebayo also known as UncleBigBay. His teaching methods were incredibly easy and straight forward, the terms, words and examples he gave were so basic to the extent that we easily grabbed what he was impacting into us.
As we sail through the voyage, my name was listed under Team 3 (Evolution) where I met some amazing people, Our mentor Miss Abigael David, the team leader Mogaji Bolaji Abdullah and his assistant Momoh Fatima, other team members Sule, Theophilus, Gbenuade, Divine, Kehinde, and Moses such amazing people.
The Second week also involved more practical learning. We had another section with UncleBigBay on HTML and CSS and we were given tasks to build a barber website from the example he gave and also build our own portfolios.
Other fun activities such as Q&A sessions and question games added to the fun to the experience.
Workshops on Presentation & Communication, Storytelling, and Article Writing further equipped us with the skills to articulate our ideas and tell compelling stories.
Python classes stated on the Third week with Mr. Ibrahim Tijani learning about various data types and control structures was sounding all new to me. Other weekly sessions includes evaluations, some participants were evicted while others including me sailed to the next phase.
Sprint presentation started and we were asked to showcase the project each grouped worked on, my team and I showcased our amazing QuickSumm summarizing tooI, which was pretty amazing. My team and I also partake in Celebrating World Youth Skills Day and we were represented by Kehind, who talked about Forex Trading as a Skill.
Things got tough on the Fourth Week. We had a zoom section titled "Building Your AI Skills: Identifying Learning Pathways for AI Enthusiasts" amazing experts like Mr. Daniel Wilson enlightened us on the topic, other notable such as Mrs. Cynthia Shobayo and Mr. Kadir Salami also were also present.
Python classes concluded with lessons on integrating APIs, creating virtual environments, and converting scripts into executable files and also elected the week’s class governors.
On the Fifth Week we did our third sprint presentation, demonstrating our Python code running on the terminal. Our first AI class was fascinating, covering various AI models, machine learning, and large language models.
On the Sixth Week we were about to conclude our voyage. Things got more intense with two sprint presentations preparing us for graduation. We also had a session with Dr. Aminu’s class on how to generate APIs from the Hugging Face website which was very informative.
Finally, my group and I are trying to roundup our QuickSumm summarizing tool preparing for our final presentation.
In conclusion, the journey has been nerve racking, educative and exciting. The TIIDELab pre-fellowship AI program has increased my knowledge, helping me grow, and building long-term connections.
