Frustrated by Kenya's recent tax hikes?

You're not alone. Many Kenyans, particularly young people, have been protesting against a government they feel isn't accountable. But what if the power to fight back lies within the very document outlining the government's limitations: the Kenyan Constitution?

The recent GDG hackathon themed "Revitalize Kenya" offered a space for developers like myself to create solutions for the nation's challenges. Our team identified a gap in understanding – many Kenyans weren't familiar with their own constitution. This lack of knowledge limited their ability to hold the government accountable, particularly in situations like the recent tax increases.

We set out to bridge this gap by developing software that would simplify and explain the constitution using Generative AI. Initially, we used the Gemini model, but during the hackathon presentation, we encountered limitations due to fine-tuning issues.

However, this setback sparked further exploration. I discovered the potential of AI Agents to efficiently explain complex information like the constitution to the common person.

We're currently building AI Agents that can break down and explain the constitution in a user-friendly way. It's a work in progress, but I believe it has the potential to empower Kenyans to understand their rights and hold the government accountable.
