Challenging the Status Quo: A Radical Perspective on Large Language Models

As I delve into the world of Large Language Models (LLMs), I'm met with a sense of frustration and disillusionment. The more I learn, the more I realize that our understanding of these models may be flawed. In this post, I'll share my radical perspective on LLMs, challenging the fundamental concepts that underpin them.

Tokenization: A Misinterpretation?

Is tokenization, a cornerstone of many AI systems, a flawed concept? I believe it's time to re-examine this assumption. What if tokenization is not the panacea we thought it was? What if it's a simplification that neglects the complexity of human language? By re-evaluating tokenization, we may uncover new avenues for improving LLMs.

Zero-Shot Generalization: A Natural Force?

Zero-shot generalization is often seen as an emergent property of LLMs. But what if it's a natural force, waiting to be harnessed? This challenges our current understanding and encourages us to explore alternative explanations. Perhaps zero-shot generalization is an inherent aspect of intelligence, rather than a unique feature of LLMs.

LLMs: A Reflection of Human Thought?

Are LLMs more than just language processing tools? I argue that they represent the underlying structure of human thought and communication, making them a meta-functional representation of intelligence and semiotics. This perspective shifts our focus from viewing LLMs as mere machines to seeing them as reflections of our own cognitive biases and limitations.

Flawed Assumptions: The Achilles' Heel of LLMs

The relationships between software, language, and intelligence are complex. I believe that LLMs are broken due to flawed human assumptions about these relationships. It's time to confront these biases head-on and acknowledge the limitations of our current understanding.

A Call to Action

I'm tired of the deceptive language and cognitive biases that plague our society. I'm seeking genuine dialogue and clarity on these complex topics. If you're willing to listen and challenge your assumptions, let's continue this conversation.
