Opensource to Remote Offer

Debugging is my passion and I ❤️ React + Typescript. This passion led me to get a remote job offer by contributing to an open-source project.

I have been using this library for over a year, and I discovered some bugs in both the documentation and the components. I wanted to make it better, so I scanned the repository two months ago and identified around 400 bugs. I decided to tackle these issues and reached out to the maintainers. After communicating with them, I began my PR bursts.

To be truth, it was my first open source contribution to that organisation and also I didn't have a very depth knowledge in react and type script.

It took me more than three days to solve very simple work, which was just a version update. But after that, I worked on my skills. I put in more than 16 hours per day understanding React and Typescript up to its depth. I learnt the Utility types and type script more than 10 times and went to Stackoverflow and Docs of React more than a hundred times. I gulped a number of articles on debugging and watched many videos on YouTube.

Sometimes, to solve a simple bug I used to run 4 browsers (Firefox dev, Chrome, Chrome Deve, Safari ) all running at the same time, to solve it in the best possible way :)

Finally, with practice and hard work, I made around worth 30 PR hours in a month, along with solving 10+ logical bugs.

But the story doesn't end here. Recently, I got a personal message from the CEO to join their organisation. They noticed my contribution and they also liked it.

Note - They asked to take the test, which they have not taken yet ( they are currently busy building one more product and chasing deadlines), so I am not still in their organisation. But, I believe soon, I will be working them in them.

I do know my future, but the biggest thing I have gained is the skill of debugging and a ❤️ for React & Typescript. After all, programming is more about passion and excellence in solving real-world problems.

I am open and always ready to help you by Debugging your React and Typescript apps. I will be happy to work with someone like you. If you find me worth it, contact me We will together Build a better application.

So that's it. This is the way that worked for me to get a remote offer from a YC-backed startup.

Hope you find your dream soon :)

Keep Building & Keep Posting
