My Journey to Passing the AWS Solutions Architect Professional Exam with a 975/1000 score

Introduction

In this blog post, I want to share my journey and insights from preparing for and passing the AWS Solutions Architect Professional exam. This certification is known for its rigor and depth, and I hope my experiences can help others who are on a similar path.

Why I Chose AWS Solutions Architect Professional

The AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification is a prestigious credential that demonstrates advanced skills in designing distributed systems on AWS. As someone passionate about cloud computing, I wanted to deepen my understanding of AWS services and best practices since i already have previous experience utilizing AWS Services. This certification not only enhances my resume but also equips me with the knowledge to architect robust solutions.

Exam Structure and Format

The exam consists of multiple-choice and multiple-answer questions, which can be quite challenging. You have three hours to complete it, and maintaining focus during this time is crucial. I found that some questions were tricky, requiring quick decision-making and a solid understanding of AWS concepts and knowing which combination of services work best in certain scenarios.

  1. Online Courses: I utilized the Ultimate AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional 2024 course by Stephane Maarek on Udemy, which offered comprehensive courses tailored for the exam. The interactive labs were particularly helpful in applying theoretical knowledge.

  2. Practice Exams: Taking practice exams was invaluable. They helped me familiarize myself with the exam format and identify areas where I needed more study. I utilized the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional Practice Exams 2024 by Jon-Bonso on Tutorials Dojo. I studied in batches of 30 and went over each batch 5 times till i was averaging a 90% score. the questions prepare you for the timely nature of the examination

  3. AWS Documentation and Whitepapers: I spent time reading AWS whitepapers and FAQs, which provided in-depth insights into various services and best practices.

  4. Books: Although there aren't many dedicated books for this certification, I found the Tutorials Dojo Study Guide to be a useful resource. It’s concise and focused on the exam objectives.

Hands-On Experience

I believe that hands-on experience is crucial when preparing for this exam. Working on AWS projects allowed me to apply what I learned and understand the practical implications of different services. Working on a couple projects suggest by Tech with Lucy proved to help deepen my understanding on key services.

Tips for Success

  1. Time Management: During the exam, I had to manage my time carefully. I recommend practicing with timed mock exams like the ones on Tutorials Dojo to improve your pacing.

  2. Focus on Core Areas of the Exam guide: While it's impossible to know every AWS service in detail, having a solid understanding of core areas that will be tested on in the exam like improvement of ongoing services or migration, will be essential in you passing.

  3. Join Study Groups: Engaging with others who are preparing for the exam can provide support and additional resources.

  4. Request Extra Time: If English is not your first language, consider requesting extra time when booking your exam. It can help you avoid rushing through the last questions.
