Killing Students

Killing Students

University, it kills people.

It rob’s people of their spirit to be different.

It kills the ones that aren’t willing to conform.

It turns them into a shadow of their formal self.

Non human.

It asks for adults, but it deals with people as children.

It insists on pushing information.

It insists on putting people into boxes.

There is no one that can teach you the best path.

Always assume that there isn’t a step-by-step.

Assume you’ll have to constantly figure things out.

Assume it’s on you, the knowledge you take from now on.

Forget lectures.

Forget classes.

Forget teachers.

Start to see what is needed, and become it.

Improve the world where it is screaming for change.

Shake things a little.

You need to educate yourself.

Don’t let university have monopoly over that role.

You do you.

Every step of the way.

I wrote this poem a couple of years ago in college, no idea why I haven't published it before, but now here it is.
