Sticking to the Code

Setting Goals and Sticking to Them

At the beginning of the year, I made plans to accomplish several things. I aimed to code and push that code to GitHub every day. Except for a break at the start of the summer, I've stuck to that plan. I also intended to work towards getting a developer job, and I've mostly kept to that as well. However, there is one goal I haven't followed through on at all: I haven't been posting anything to my blog.

The Struggle with Blogging

I've just been finding other things to do with my time. I've always meant to make time to post something to the blog, though. I've been quite indecisive about what to write. I had a blog a couple of years ago and was much more enthusiastic about writing for it. However, I didn't see as much engagement as I would have liked, so I ended up deleting the entire thing. I should have stuck with it and realized that it would take time to gain more interest and a consistent set of readers.

Patience and Persistence

Like with any good thing, it really does take time. I’ve been working on being more patient with my journey into tech. The main purposes of using social media and having a blog are to network and have engaging, insightful conversations about what’s happening in the tech industry these days. To that end, I need to worry less about what I’m writing and focus more on what I’m trying to convey. If I can help someone or get my ideas in front of someone who can discuss tech issues with me, then I will have achieved my goal.

Commitment to Consistency

So, I will move forward and write at least one article a week, sometimes even a series. I will also engage more with people on 𝕏 to interact and build a network of those who can discuss technological topics. I want to find ways to apply my tech knowledge through jobs and projects. After all, gaining knowledge without using it in interesting ways isn't very useful.

Conclusion

In conclusion, while I've made significant strides in my coding journey and job search, I've realized the importance of maintaining a consistent presence on my blog. By committing to regular writing and engaging with the tech community, I can share my insights, learn from others, and build a valuable network. Moving forward, I will prioritize my blog as a platform to document my experiences, share knowledge, and connect with like-minded individuals. This will not only enhance my personal growth but also contribute to the broader tech community.

I’m a full stack developer with a background in mathematics. I dabbled in coding as a child and later in my adult life. But it was always as a hobby. I was studying mathematics until 2021, but left my studies and found a renewed interest in coding. This interest lead to working on some projects and doing coding challenges to improve my skills. I had a few set backs last year when I put my new studies on hold for some time, but I’m back this year to complete my goal of learning all I can and continuing to be excited at how much I can apply from my previous studies to what I’m doing now.
