Hi, thank you for visiting my blog! I like to structure my conversations in an easy-to-follow Q&A format, so you’ll find the information you’re looking for more quickly. Let’s give it a try:

🐙
👋 Hi there! It’s me 😊 I’ll be sending text messages like this one! Typically, I’ll include a preceding question to make it easier to locate specific content, especially if the blog post is lengthy. Occasionally, I might deviate from this structure if I need to share information that doesn’t quite fit this format. However, you’ll always be able to recognize my messages.

Who Are and What is This Blog About?

🐙
Hey, my name is Dmitrii, and I’m a Senior Software Engineer in Test (SDET) with a diverse background. My experience spans from security and networking to full-stack development with Ruby on Rails (RoR) and React JS. I also have significant experience in infrastructure development. Currently, I’m based in the United States. This blog will document my journey as I develop and launch a mobile application. I’ll be sharing everything I learn along the way, from the initial idea to the final launch. Since this is my first project, you’ll get an honest look at both the highs and lows. I’m excited to share something I’ve been working on for a few months. But more on that in the next post. :)

Why are you being SDET trying to build something?

🐙
I believe SDETs are engineers who focus on testing, but I've always had a passion for building things myself. I’ve worked on many projects, including my portfolio (built with RoR 5 and React on Rails), just for fun. However, I eventually realized that true engineers create something valuable for the community. That realization led me to fully commit to product development, aiming to reach that satisfying release date. As SDETs, we often wear two hats - we need to know how to build features and how to test them effectively. I strongly believe that SDETs can write code—not just any code, but code that is both functional and impactful.

What are you going to share in this blog?

🐙
As I mentioned earlier, this blog will chronicle my journey of building a mobile application. I’ll be sharing insights on coding, marketing, selling, and testing—all from the perspective of an SDET. I’ll also discuss what SDETs need to learn to effectively develop applications from a technical standpoint. There might be times when I have to suppress my QA instincts to keep the development moving quickly. I should also note that I’ve never worked with mobile app frameworks before, so you’ll definitely witness some struggles and learning moments along the way.

What would help you to keep it going?

🐙
My readers are my source of motivation, especially when it comes to blog posts. After working in isolation for so long, I believe this blog can help keep me moving forward. If you have any suggestions or comments—whether positive or negative—I would greatly appreciate your feedback. Your input can be about the blog itself or the project I’ll be sharing with you.

What is next ?

🐙
My next blog post will focus on my project, where I’ll share its current status and overall ideas. I’ve also created some mockups that I’m excited to share with you. Join me as I kick off my journey as an SDET, sharing insights into my first indie project. Follow along as I document my experiences, challenges, and progress in bringing this idea to life.
