Weekly Dev Log #1

Today marks the 99th day of my indie development journey and the 52nd day since LaxtTime's release. Starting today, I'll record my indie dev experience every Sunday. As it's the first day of September, let me summarize August.

Revenue

August was great for LaxtTime. I got about 6.98k downloads and 741 in-app purchases, with sales reaching $1.65k.

The highest daily download count hit 1k, pushing me close to the top 100 in the productivity rankings.

I credit this success to my Xiaohongshu account, an Instagram-like platform that brought in many Asia-Pacific customers. Nearly 95% of payments came from this region.

This also worries me. I've tried promoting on Reddit and Twitter to reach more areas, but it's been a while since users outside Asia-Pacific downloaded the app. For September, I plan to focus more on international promotion.

Functionality

In August, I released 8 updates. The latest version, 1.1.11, is under review.

I have two user groups with nearly 900 people. This allows for quick communication and feedback, which is great for product development.

Main updates include:

  1. Widgets

Added several new widgets, most with interactive features.

These widgets allow users to see the progress of each task on their home screen and record updates anytime, anywhere.

  1. UI Adjustments

Made many UI improvements based on user suggestions. After each change, I share screenshots on various platforms. Users give feedback, and I keep adjusting. This works really well โ€“ a great benefit of building in public.

Next Week's Plan

Next week, I'll focus on promotion and gathering more user feedback.

I also plan to migrate Core Data. The current entity fields aren't very precise, which limits LaxtTime's scalability. I've been avoiding this issue, but with growing user demands, it's time to address it.

Finally, I hope LaxtTime can maintain $1k+/MRR in September ๐Ÿ™
