What is AWS Region?

AWS has data centers strategically located across the globe, called Regions.

  • AWS has regions all over the world

  • Regions are cluster of Data center

  • It consists of Avalability zones(AZs)

How to choose the right AWS region for your application / website?

  1. 📍Data stays in your region - Compliance with data governance and local requirements.

  2. 🚀Closer to customers - Keeping data close to customers reduce lag.

  3. 🛠️Service Availability - Not all services or features are available everywhere.

for example, a new tool might lunch in U.S. first and come to other regions later.

  4. 💰Cost differences - Prices can vary by region, and you can check the service pricing page to see how much it will cost in your chosen region.

Each Region has multiple availability zones (usually 3, with a minimum of 2 and maximum of 6)

What is an Avalability Zones?

An Avalability Zone is a separate data center wit its own power and network.

Disater Protecton - Avalability zones are isolated to avoid all being affected by a disater.

Fast Connection - Avalability zones are linked with high-speed, low-latency networks.

Edge Locations

Edge locations are used by AWS to deliver content to users faster.
